Medical Elective Abroad's student help run a free health fair in Bequia
Our medical elective students were making the most of their knowledge and expertise by volunteering at a local health fair. Bequia is one of St Vincent's islands, and is about 40 minuets away by speedboat. Our students made a weekend out of the fair, with a two night stay, enjoyinh Bequia's stunning beaches and waterfront bars and resturants. On the Saturday they aided in the running of a health fair that MEA had help set up. Using their knowledge the group ran a breast examination stand and offered medical advice and feedback on the other tests being run. These fairs are hugely imporant as the country's major hospital is on the main land, and many are unable to get there. We will continue to support these outreach medical projects and donate a portion of all elective fees to local medical charities.
