St Vincent and the Grenadines
Discover the unspoilt beauty of one the Caribbean’s hidden gems
Our Caribbean elective was the first project we established. One of our founding members, Dr Clarke, had taken her elective to St Vincent in 2014 and fell in love with the islands. It was an obvious first choice, and our aim was to establish an elective service that replicated the unforgettable time she’d had while taking away the stress of organising it yourself.
To achieve this we have a dedicated in country team, headed up by Khari who had looked out for Dr Clarke during her time away. Our team will be there to meet you at the airport, help you get settled in and assist you throughout your stay. Whether you need help getting a local sim card, a recommendation for the best places to eat or a hand to help booking a trip our team are there to help.
When you arrive you will quickly see why St Vincent is one of the most stunning island chains in the Caribbean. Made up of 32 islands it has a lower level of tourism then many other islands, and it was this unspoilt beauty that led it to feature heavily in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. There are an array of amazing experiences such as bathing in waterfalls, climbing an active volcano, sunset cruises, boat parties, dolphin watching and the chance to swim with turtles.
We didn’t just want to create a fun experience for students, but also an elective program that made a real difference. It was with this aim in mind that we work with local medical organisations helping to run free health fairs on the smaller islands. We also work with the World Pediatric Project and run first air workshops for the national Football Federation.

The highlight of my elective were being immersed in a new culture both socially and medically. It was interesting to experience the medical problems that come with a different culture and some I have never seen before. Learning about local culture, trying new experiences, foods, dances and making friends! Exploring the beautiful islands of St Vincent and the Grenadines, from waterfalls to salt ponds to rainforests and amazing beaches it has it all! I fell in love with the island.
Thank you to MEA and especially Khari for making our elective an experience I will always treasure.
